Danny Attias - CIO, Anthony Nolan

Featured in the top ten of the CIO Top 100 in 2018 Danny is a delivery driven CIO who is passionate about using digital transformation to enable organisations achieve their strategic objectives. Highly experienced in taking advantage of new technologies to deliver business outcomes, project delivery and organisational transformation with an inclusive, supportive engagement style. Commercially astute with experience spanning retail, agency and the third sector.

Thierry Bedos - CTO, Hotels.com

Thierry is a seasoned technology leader with proven track record in Europe, the US and Asia. In his current role, he is in charge of the global technology teams that deliver and operate all the online websites and mobile apps for Hotels.com. Thierry has a wealth of experience delivering global products to consumers and businesses, having founded few startups in Asia and co-authored patents on web technologies. He holds an engineering degree from Supélec, France and currently lives in London with his wife and 2 children.

Clifford Burroughs - CIO

Clifford is an experienced senior Director with broad-based expertise in Technology, Procurement and Operations. He started his career as an independent consultant, developing KPI software applications for senior leadership teams at various blue chips. He has spent the majority of his career at International Food Manufacturer United Biscuits as a CIO, then heading up a Lean implementation before also adding responsibility for Procurement. Most recently he has been the CTO and Procurement Director at the FA with responsibility for technology and procurement across Wembley, the National Teams, Coach Education and Grassroots Football. He is currently an independent consultant focusing on supporting organisations tackle their complexities and is researching and writing a book advocating the benefits of leveraging simplicity in everything they do.

Sabah Khan Carter - CIO, Global Operations Centre, News Corp.

Ms Carter is CIO, Global Operations Centre for News Corp. Previously she was Director Technology Business Operations at News UK where she led strategic relationships with technology partners and social media platforms. She has led key business initiatives for the company, including building their Indian (Bangalore) off-shore capability providing a centre of excellence in Product Engineering, Data Science and Infrastructure Operations.

Ms Carter has held a number of Technology leadership roles delivering ‘business transforming’ change to internal and external audiences across numerous industry sectors including Media, Education, Telecoms and Government.

Geoff Connell - Head of IMT, Norfolk County Council and Socitm Immediate Past President

Geoff Connell is a highly experienced local public sector ICT manager who is currently responsible for technology and information management at Norfolk County Council.  He has previously led teams in multiple London Boroughs to modernise and optimise ICT infrastructures, as well as delivering digitally enabled transformation programmes to implement new organisational delivery models.  This work has led to Geoff being awarded with numerous top CIO and digital leadership awards from various prestigious organisations.

Geoff is active in Local Government programme management, knowledge sharing and policy development through his role as Socitm President and board membership of sub-regional, regional and national groups including Socitm, Cyber and the Local Public Sector CIO Council.

Sharon Cooper - Chief Digital Officer, Economist Intelligence Unit

Before joining the EIU Sharon spent nearly 6 years at BMJ, firstly as its first CTO in September 2012, and then promoted to Chief Digital Officer in 2016 when, in addition, to her technology responsibilities, she also took on the leadership of BMJ’s portfolio of clinical information and learning products.

At BMJ she led a transformation programme starting with the technology team. Following an agile transformation, the team have focused on moving to a full DevOps approach, harnessing a mix of public and private cloud infrastructure. Working with her team she led a major refocus of BMJ’s core products successfully improving profitability over 2 years.

Prior to BMJ, Sharon spent five years working in the public sector at Directgov and Government Digital Service. She worked with most major Whitehall departments focusing on improving the delivery of existing online government services. For her last project at GDS, Sharon was instrumental in developing the digital Lasting Power of Attorney, which she took from a complex paper-based form and created an simple, intuitive digital solution.

She has a degree in Chemistry and has worked in knowledge and information organisations Including Oxford University Press, Which?, Informa and Reed Elsevier.

Paul Habershon - IT and Transformation Director, NS&I


Analytical, highly adaptable consulting and programme professional with extensive experience in developing and organising strategic business & IT solutions across a variety of sectors, including Retail Banking/Payments, Power/Commodities, Utilities, Government, Telecommunications and ICT. Member of the Executive Management Team and the Board, responsible for: Overseeing and managing the implementation of the information technology systems strategy; Delivery of the portfolio of change projects within the business; Ensuring compliance to FCA and other regulatory and security standards and policies within the Directorate.

Katie Hall - Account Manager, DarkTrace


Katie Hall has been an Account Manager at Darktrace for 18 months, working on accounts across the EMEA region. Prior to Darktrace, Katie spent 3 years working for a global AI Software firm for lawyers, giving technology demonstrations frequently at events across North America. She holds a first class degree in Human Genetics BSc from the University of Nottingham.

Jonathan Heeley - Shared Services Automation Programme Manager, 2 Sisters Food Group


Former Business Readiness Manager for leading supermarket retailer Morrisons and currently Automation Programme Manager for 2 Sisters Food Group, Jonathan has experience of revolutionising both front-end customer facing operations as well as leading business critical, shared services transformation projects. In his current role, Jonathan is responsible for seamlessly implementing disruptive technologies, including RPA and AI, and for introducing a solid process orchestration layer to enable digital innovation across the shared services function at one of the UK’s largest food manufacturers.

David Ivell - CTO, Good Energy

David is a pioneer for technology creating positive social and environmental change. Holding roles as CIO, CTO and CDO in companies that include IBM, Credit Suisse, British Film Institute, RBG Kew and the Prince’s Trust. In his current role at Good Energy David’s focus is introducing rapid innovation to create an environment where our children breathe clean air and renewable energy powers our future.

David is also a special advisor to The Prince’s Trust.

Chris Jackson - Director of Cloud Platforms, Pearson

Chris Jackson is the Director of Cloud Platforms at Pearson. He leads a small team of incredibly talented engineers into a brave new world of containerised platforms for Pearson’s next generation of digital services. His passion for building valuable technology combined with his amateur skills in all things code inevitably led him to a leadership role where he can help others achieve their goals and engage them in some of the most exciting technology spaces available. Prior to Pearson, Chris spent 8 years with Rackspace observing and participating in the cloud explosion through the eyes of a vendor and seeing how Open Source Software is genuinely changing our approach to everything. He is a reformed thought-leader who will over a beer tell you that many of the world’s problems could be solved with a bit of DevOps…  When he is not working, Chris has a wife and two young boys who serve as a brilliant reminder that bettering education services is a worthy investment of his time. He also is an avid rugby, football and formula one fan who dreams of one day owning a car faster that his release cycles.

David Jennison - Managing Director, On Truck

David Jennison is Managing Director of OnTruck UK, an online logistics platform that improves efficiency in road freight by matching supply and demand more effectively, resulting in better economics and service levels for both shippers and hauliers. Before OnTruck, David was General Manager at Deliveroo where he grew the UK business in new and existing cities. Prior to that he spent a number of years at Amazon, leading sales at Amazon Pay, managing Amazon’s Fashion and Softlines marketplace and launching Global Selling in UK. He has an MBA from Said Business School at Oxford University and BA from University of Sheffield.

David is married with one child. Outside of work he enjoys completing physical challenges and has climbed Mt Kilimanjaro, sailed in the Rolex Fastnet race and swum the English Channel. He is open to ideas for new challenges – if he can find time for training in between feeds and nappy changes!

Clyde Johnson - Cyber Security Strategist

Clyde is an experienced Cyber Security Strategist and Chief Information Security Officer with over 20 years extensive Cybersecurity programme experience with a demonstrated history of working in Cybersecurity and Information security, amongst Goldman Sachs, Shell, BAE, Virgin, Ministry of Justice and RPC. He is responsible for working with clients to develop robust and pragmatic approaches to cybersecurity defences. Clyde’s innovative people first approach to Cyber Security implementation has him currently engaged in large projects in the legal sector and often delivers talks on areas such as running information governance risk and compliance frameworks, security planning, data protection strategies, artificial intelligence and IoT.

Dave Jones - Chairman of the Northern IT Leaders Group and Director, Digital WoW

Dave has over 30 years of experience in various roles. This includes over 15 years at CIO level. Dave has been instrumental in delivering digital transformation at a number of multinational organisations, working throughout Europe, USA, South America, Middle East, Asia and Australia. Implementing solutions across multiple language groups and business cultures. Dave holds a MA in Leading Innovation and Change awarded from York St John University in 2013. Dave has also been recognised as a leading UK CIO and named in the CIO 100 in 2014, 2017 and 2018. Dave is Chairman of the Northern IT Leaders Group and a member of the Yorkshire Byte Night Board.

Kevin Kiley - Vice President, Sales and Business Development, OneTrust

Kevin Kiley serves as Vice President of Sales & Business Development at OneTrust, a global leader in privacy management software which helps organizations operationalize data privacy compliance and Privacy by Design. In his role, Kiley works with many of the world’s leading multi-national companies to develop, deliver and support their privacy programs. Prior to OneTrust, Kiley served as Senior Director of North American Enterprise Segments at VMware.  Kiley holds an MBA from La Sorbonne completed Summa Cum Laude with additional post-graduate studies at Oxford University. He currently resides with his family in London, but splits time between OneTrust’s co-headquarters in Atlanta.

John Lyons - Head of Cloud and Hosting, Zen

John Lyons is Head of Cloud & Hosting at Zen, an award-winning technology services provider based in the North West. Since graduating from Dublin City University John has spent 17 years in technology, management and leadership roles with a range of service providers across the UK & Ireland. In 2013, John led Zen’s move to become a cloud MSP, ensuring they were one of the earliest AWS consulting partners in the UK. Since then he has continued to be a passionate advocate and evangelist for the benefits and capabilities that cloud can bring to businesses. John is an active leader in technology industry associations, serving in the 2000’s as a board member for the Irish Neutral Internet Exchange (INEX), acting for 6 years as a programme committee member for the UK Network Operators Forum (UKNOF) and is now a co-organiser for the 1,000+ member strong AWS User Group North.

Natalia de Miguel - Artificial Intelligence Strategist, GSMA

Natalia has been a self-driven strategist, digital technologist, financial analyst, innovator, mentor and computer and electrical engineer across 14+ countries and different types of organisations including consulting, industry, investment banking and start-ups. Impact obsessed!

Extensive experience in growing and transforming businesses with a strong focus on Digital & Innovation. In 2016 Natalia joined the GSMA, the trade association for the mobile industry, where more recently she has been working with the CSOs of the top 30 mobile operators and the ecosystem to help define the Artificial Intelligence Strategy for the mobile industry. Prior to this, Natalia was a Strategy Consultant at Accenture and PwC, where she developed the FY15 Business plan for the Government & Health Industries at PwC Consulting helping them grow by 30%+ YoY. Part of the initial team at Orange Digital, one of the first and boldest initiatives from large corporates to compete in the digital space 10+ years ago.

James Munson - Director of Digital Services and Technology, DVSA

James is instrumental in leading the digital and technology transformation of the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency. His three-year journey has seen the agency move from inflexible legacy outsource contracts to agile continuously delivered services.

James introduced agile ways of working, built significant internal capability and is changing the culture of IT to support a continuous improvement mindset. James has developed new governance processes and the introduction of a product-based business architecture, scaling agile out from IT across the organisation, enabling change driven from business product manager owned backlogs.

Within his first year at the DVSA, James led the transition of the national MOT system, now cited as one of the top 20 digital projects across government. Launched in September 2015, the service was transformed from an outdated legacy service, to a modern, public cloud hosted, digital platform. New public services have been added including MOT History and MOT Reminders.

James continues to lead a major digital modernisation for DVSA’s other business services, including vehicle operator licensing, commercial vehicle MOT testing, commercial vehicle enforcement, national driving tests and driving theory tests. These include internally developed apps, use of machine learning for enforcement activity and hosting at scale on public cloud.

James joined the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) in 2015 as Director of Digital Services and Technology, having previously held IT Director positions at UCAS and Unite Group.

Edosa Odaro - Head of Data, Axa

Edosa is an African born, alpine ski instructor, semi-pro photographer, sports enthusiast (predominantly running, swimming, cycling, cross-country skiing and climbing) and investor (predominantly in property) who is also incredibly passionate about data! Edosa has spent most of the last few years helping over 20 organisations get tangible value out of data. Having helped leadership positions within a number of household brands, his industry footprint spreads across a wide variety of economic sectors – including, banking, insurance, asset management, management consulting, real estate, utilities, media, IT consulting, gaming, aviation, multilateral organisations and the public sector. Reinforced by the privilege of experiencing extreme diversity – not only in numerous countries but across 5 continents – Edosa is a firm believer in the importance of a significant focus on people and culture. Most of all, Edosa has a keen interest in learning and sharing.

Natascha Polderman - CIO, Control Risks

Natascha Polderman is the Group CIO for Control Risks and has recently joined the Executive Committee on a two-year term. Natascha is responsible for the digital and technology strategy of the firm and overseeing its implementation. In addition, Natascha has global accountability for overseeing the firm’s annual Environment action plan. Prior to Control Risks, Natascha
worked for Lloyd’s Register for 17 years in global roles based in Hong Kong, Shanghai, London, Houston and Miami. She is shortlisted for the 2018 Women in Tech Excellence awards (November 2018) and was recognised within the top 100 CIO’s in the UK in 2018.

She believes passionately in leading balanced, diverse, and pragmatic technology teams. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with the family (which includes their growing animal menagerie), is an avid Formula 1 fan, and loves to ski and swim.

Chris Sawyer - Head of Data Services, BAE Systems

Chris Sawyer has a background in data analytics, user-centric design and business transformation and has spent 12 years advising a diverse range of clients across defence, government, policing and telecoms, financial services and industrial sectors on better data management, exploitation of data and data security and protection.

Chris is an optimist about the power of digital and data technology to change society; to allow us to lead richer, more fulfilling lives, to automate the mundane, to provide vital services at wider scale and to help protect us against those who threaten our way of life.

Chris is BAE Systems’ Head of Data Solutions – working with our clients to bring together our data offerings from advisory work on architectures, models and compliance, to hands-on data science and analytics, through to data engineering for business-critical data systems and services.

Johannes Stillig - Head of Cyber Security, Schillings

Johannes is an expert in incident response and digital forensics. Combining a detailed knowledge of how IT networking and operating systems work with highly sought-after project and crisis management skills, Johannes advises clients at the point of crisis to respond quickly and effectively to cyber-attacks and data loss incidents. Prior to Schillings, Johannes worked at PwC and latterly PayPal, where he was responsible for the EMEA and LATAM regions. During that time, he led technical cyber-security projects aimed at protecting the organisation’s critical IT infrastructure, while also leading detailed technical investigations to uncover the perpetrators behind attempted cyber-attacks.

Nadine Thomson - Director of Technology, Condé Nast International

Nadine Thomson leads transformation of businesses through delivering technology change.  She has managed international teams across a range of industries including retail, entertainment, travel, tech and financial services. Nadine has a computer science background and couples business knowledge with technical understanding to help businesses evolve.

Alongside her technology career, she provides strategic leadership on the Board of Cinema For All, the national organisation for developing community-led cinema. She also takes an active role in organisations encouraging young people to explore careers in technology. Demand is growing for talent and diversity in the technology and engineering fields and we need to inspire the next generation to get involved in technology.

Simon Townsend - CTO, Ivanti

Simon is a passionate and experienced technologist and evangelist with both field and executive level experience. During his 15 years at Ivanti he has helped many organisations deploy and adopt Secure, User workspace management solutions. Simon has a background in sales engineering and during his time at Ivanti he has developed a Professional Services team and lead Product Management for a number of years.

As the chief technologist, Simon is a regular presenter at events and spends much of his time talking to customers across EMEA on how End User computing is evolving and how we can secure, optimize and manage more technology in a world where user expectation is higher than ever. Simon is a member of the office of the CTO at Ivanti.

Chris Zissis - CIO, EMEA, Head of Technology, Data and Information Management, JLL

In 2013, Chris Zissis joined leading real estate professional service firm JLL as EMEA CIO to modernise the IT service into an accountable, client and enterprise-focused technology and data capability. In 2017, his CIO responsibilities across core technology services, digital and application development, engagement and delivery were expanded to incorporate the
additional roles of Head of the EMEA Data and Information Management capability and Global CIO for Capital Markets.

In partnership with leadership, Zissis has relentlessly aligned the technology and data value chain to business strategy embedding digital and data into new and traditional ways of serving clients and markets. Already a recognised Premiere 100 Technology Leader and a 2017 CIO 100 honouree, he was also awarded Best CIO of the Year by European CEO Magazine. With achievements spanning 20 years at JLL, Barclays, PWC and DTZ, Zissis firmly believes a relationship-driven approach is key to delivering technology as a business enabler and differentiator.
