Biography: Claire Calmejane, Director of Innovation, Lloyds Banking Group
Claire is charged with harnessing digital innovations and disruptions to best suit LBG strategy. The computer engineer joined the bank in October 2012 as head of digital delivery and became head of the digital centre of excellence, innovation and partnerships in 2014, helping to devise a strategy to digitise a large corporate bank. As director of innovation, she has set up the LBG Innovation Labs a 50+ strong team focusing on de-risking the Group’s strategy, identifying fintech and tech partners and making innovation everyone’s job. Working with the HR team, she built the digital academy and the UK’s first digital graduate scheme attracting so far 40 graduates and 10 apprentices.
French-born Calmejane is one of the only female in the Fintech 40 Europe by the WSJ, a multi-awarded digital leader and a board member and mentor at Startupbootcamp FinTech, having helped to drive Lloyds’ backing of the accelerator programme. She is also the Technology champion for London as part of our Help Britain Prosper plan and a sponsor of Digital Breakthrough. Before joining the bank, she worked for Capgemini Consulting and has served as a visiting scientist at the American university MIT on how large organisation digitise.
